From the moment the parcel arrived these socks oozed quality. It felt like it was my birthday when I opened the beautifully packaged box. The socks looked fantastic and so soft to touch. I've worn them on training rides on my road bike and on my mountain bike and raced with them in a mountain bike race. They were unbelievably comfortable. I was worried they would lack padding which I usually like with my mtb shoes but no, they felt great. And they don't move an inch yet aren't too tight. I'm a size 8.5 and they fit perfectly. The mtb race I did was in 40°C heat in Paarl and these socks seemed to wick away the sweat like magic! I've never had bamboo socks before so I was extremely impressed! They must be lucky socks too as we won the mixed team race! (Sanlam 2 day mtb race). I was worried about the washing instructions - I'm too lazy to hand wash my clothes so hoped they'd survive on my usual delicate wash cycle. And they have! No probs at all! And still look like new several washes later.Nic Harry (NH): Firstly, tell us a bit about yourself. What do you do? Jenny Close (JC): I’m a website consultant and social media manager. I’m originally from Scotland, and moved to South Africa 7 years ago. NH: How would you describe your style? JC: Classic and sporty NH: When you’re not on the bike, what do you get up to? JC: I have a running background and when I moved to SA someone suggested I tried cycling. Loved it from the get go and now have a road bike, a tt bike and a mountain bike! NH: Where’s your favourite place to ride? JC: I love cycling to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek on my road or tt bike. The mountains and wine farms are stunning. We are lucky to have wide yellow lines to ride in and not too much traffic to dodge. I have started doing more mountain biking recently – we are so lucky to have amazing trails with beautiful views on our doorstep here in Durbanville. And the great coffee shops on the wine farms make the riding even better!! NH: Do you compete in a lot of races? JC: Yes! From Ironman to mountain bike stage races. I’m pretty competitive! NH: How important is clothing when you’re on the bike? JC: Very important. It has to fit well and obviously look good! NH: What is your favourite item of clothing? JC: My orange Ironman World Champs 2014 vest top – now looking fairly worn out! NH: What is the oldest item of clothing you own? JC: Probably horse riding breeches – I used to train horses in the UK and ride now and then in SA. NH: Who is your favourite fashion designer? JC: Don’t really have one but if I had to choose then it would be someone like Giorgio Armani NH: What’s your favourite accessory?
