For those who have never encountered these cute animals, a pangolin is a mammal that lives in trees. The word pangolin comes from the Malay word which translates to “something that rolls up”, just like our socks! [embed][/embed] Our latest sock was inspired by this nocturnal animal, choosing to create a design that resembles its protective keratin shell (the same substance found in hair and in the rhino’s horn) that covers its entire body. Pangolins are the only mammals in the world to be completely covered in scales. pangolin0996 The Pangolin Sock We chose to design a sock after the pangolin to create awareness about this small creature. Found in Africa and Asia, pangolins are on the critically endangered species list.
