How To Make Your Socks Last

How To Make Your Socks Last

Over time we have become very proficient at making our socks last as long as possible. Nic Harry socks are made from extremely soft and comfortable bamboo fibres. This means they are anti-bacterial, incredibly absorbent and will make your feet smell better than ever. However this also means that they are soft and prone to damage if they aren't taken care of properly. We've put together a list of things that you can do to help your socks last as long as possible.

The More, The Merrier

Rotating your socks is a great way to make sure they don't wear too fast. Buying multiple pairs of the socks you love and then a few more will keep them off your feet for the right amount of time. We suggest wearing a single pair of socks once every 14 days to get the maximum usage out them. The more you wear them, the more they wear out so the more pairs you own and rotate, the less they will wear out. Simple math.

Do Not Tumble Dry

This goes for most delicate clothing. Don't tumble (machine) dry your socks. Simple hang them on your washing line and let them dry naturally. It's also best not to wring the socks dry. Just give them a light squeeze and then hang them up to dry.

Take Care of Your Toes

The single biggest cause of holes in socks is badly looked after toes. Make sure your toenails are cut and not jagged. Socks like ours with unique designs on them have threads inside the sock than can get caught on rough toenails and lead to a hole in the sock. There's nothing wrong with a manicure every now and then to keep things in check in the toe region.

Delicate Machine Wash

In an ideal world, we'd ask you to hand wash your socks. But no one does that anymore. If you can, go for it and you'll be better for it. If, like everyone else, you machine wash your clothes then we suggest you use a delicate machine wash to ensure the longest lasting usage of your stylish ankle garments. If you have to choose between hot or cold, always go cold with delicates. 30°C to 40°C should do the trick. Try not to go warmer than that or we fear you'll reset the size of the sock to miniature.

Do Not Iron

Perhaps you're one of those people who like to have every item of clothing you wear be ironed to a crisp. That's great for everything else but not for your comfortable and soft socks. Leave the ironing out. Fold your socks and place them in your dedicated sock drawer. You have a dedicated sock drawer, right? Doesn't everyone?

Do Not Bleach

As a rule of thumb, we'd suggest you stay away from bleach for any of your clothing. It's also advisable to stay clear of any harsh chemicals that could do lasting damage. Yes, it may feel complicated to own nice things but these things are meant to be taken care of. Our incredible bamboo socks are the best things you'll ever put on your feet and into a pair of shoes. We like it when you're happy and your feet are smiling. Take our advice and keep your socks lasting longer and smelling better than ever.
